Referral to Other Legal Aid Offices

Legal paperworkOnce an applicant’s legal matter has been assessed in our intake process, the advising attorney may recommend referral to another Legal Aid office.  Matters in which a client resides within our service area but has a legal matter outside of our service area may receive a referral to another Legal Aid office.

The referral process requires LASOC/CLS to perform an eligibility check and full intake on eligible applicants.  The applicant must be eligible under LASOC/CLS guidelines in order to receive a referral to another Legal Aid office.  Once a referral is recommended, the application will be sent to the Legal Aid in the area where the legal matter resides.  At that point, it will be up to the receiving office to accept or reject the referral and contact the applicant with a response.

Referral to another Legal Aid office does not guarantee acceptance of the applicant’s case.
