Low Income Taxpayer Clinic
Legal Aid is a Low Income Taxpayer Clinic. Eligible taxpayers receive free assistance with certain federal tax matters and may also receive free assistance in preparing tax returns. In addition, taxpayers may receive free referrals to local tax law clinics for representation with IRS controversies.

Legal Aid can help you understand your rights and responsibilities as a taxpayer including

• information about your rights as a taxpayer,
• amending your tax return,
• extensions and late filing of tax returns,
• child and dependent care expenses,
• the child tax credit,
• the earned income credit,
• the elderly and disabled tax credit,
• an individual taxpayer identification number,
• injured spouse relief,
• innocent spouse relief,
• the Taxpayer Advocate, and
• what to do if you can't pay your taxes.

Legal Aid provides taxpayer education by offering presentations and taxpayer clinics throughout the community. Please contact our hotline to find out the time and location of a presentation nearest to your or to request that a presentation be offered to your group.

ESL TAXPAYERS
Legal Aid has the ability to offer taxpayer advice and assistance in many languages, including Spanish and Vietnamese, and to offer assistance to Taxpayers who have a hearing impairment. In addition, Legal Aid offers presentations and taxpayer clinics throughout the community in languages other than English. Please contact our hotline for more information.
