General Relief Settlement
Class members may now make a claim for General Relief benefits against the County of Orange for any mistake it made during the period August 24, 2012 to December 4, 2012. Your claim can be about any mistake the County it made in your General Relief benefits between August 24, 2010 and December 4, 2012. If you received General Relief benefits in this time period, you may have been underpaid. If you applied and were denied or cut off, that may have been a mistake. Do not wait. Irvine Residents
The Legal Aid Society of Orange
County (LASOC) has partnered with the City of Irvine to provide free and
low-cost, civil legal services to qualified individuals, including seniors
residing in Irvine. LASOC offers a wide variety of options to help you solve
your legal problem depending on the nature and complexity of your legal problem.
Services include a Hotline intake system, self-help clinics, workshops, on-line
court forms, and in-depth legal services ranging from preparation of legal
documents to legal representation. Many services require that you meet
eligibility guidelines which are determined on the Hotline.

Volunteer!
LASOC/CLS accepts volunteers,
interns, and externs with various levels of expertise and experience, including:
attorney volunteers*, law students/law graduates, undergraduate
interns/externs, community volunteers, and high school students. Volunteers are
matched individually with openings in our projects. We strongly encourage
volunteers fluent in Spanish or any Asian language to apply!
Please note that while we prefer a minimum of 12 hours per week for a period of 3 months (attorneys not included), we are also open to work with the applicant’s
availability. The application process can be highly competitive. It is advisable to apply for these opportunities several months before you are ready
to start.
